The Basilica of St. John Lateran, called the "mother of all churches in the world", is one of the most beautiful and impressive churches of all Rome, and is a fixed point for tourists from all over the world, both for Christians and for people belonging to other religions.
The Basilica was built in Roman times and was not used to carry out religious functions, but was instead used for public meetings and for the administration of justice.
With the further spread of Christianity, it was later converted into a church and immediately played a very important role in the spiritual life, maintaining it over the centuries, due to the large number of people it could receive.
Its architectural structure, as we can see today dates back to the seventeenth century, making it one of the most impressive and beautiful churches in the world. The façade was built by Alessandro Galilei, while Pope Innocent X Pamphili commisioned master Borromini the interior around 1650, who kept the structure with five naves and the rich coffered ceiling of the ship that ages back to the middle of the sixteenth century.
Inside the cloister you can admire the architectural elements, sculptures and works of art that were previously within the ancient basilica.
The elegance and refinement of the surrounding area mirrors the superb beauty of the church and is one of the most fascinating and central parts of Rome. For this reason we decided to gather in one section all the bed and breakfasts located in the immediate vicinity of the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, excluding structures without options and amenities such as air conditioning, television in the room, luggage storage service and private bathroom. Some of the following bed and breakfast have wireless internet and mini fridge.
